Committee of Supply 2023 debate, Day 1: Dennis Tan on security and access to seas and airspace
Singapore must be prepared and vigilant for issues that may be looming to avoid any unwanted surprises, especially in these uncertain times, said MP Dennis Tan. Speaking in Parliament on Friday (Feb 24), he said he is mindful of the very real possibility that diplomacy, law and institutions sometimes may not be enough. Stressing that Singapore needs open use of the sea lanes, submarine cables and air routes, he wanted to know what is being done to enhance such capacity. He also asked what preparations are in place to potentially sustain operations and longer distances from Singapore's shores.
