Gan Siow Huang on entry approvals for migrant domestic workers

Entry approvals for migrant domestic workers (MDWs) will be facilitated for households with healthcare workers so that they can better focus on their frontline work, said Minister of State for Manpower Gan Siow Huang. Families with caregiving needs will also continue to get priority. In response to Parliamentary questions on Tuesday (Nov 2), Ms Gan said more entry approvals will be granted as the regional COVID-19 situation improves. Households that require MDWs urgently can also consider the commercial programme under the Association of Employment Agencies. As of end-October, this initiative has facilitated the safe entry of more than 1,000 MDWs from the Philippines, Indonesia and Myanmar. The scheme will be expanded to India.
