Motion: Liang Eng Hwa on reinforcing Singapore’s position as a global transport hub
Singapore is seeing a growing take-up of electric vehicles (EVs) for private cars and light commercial vehicles. The challenge now is to create conditions for broader EV adoption among logistics operators, construction firms, waste management companies and other heavy-duty fleet owners, said MP Liang Eng Hwa. In parliament on Tuesday (Jul 7), he made three suggestions - ensure that fleet operators, particularly small- and medium-sized enterprises, can access attractive financing and leasing options for electric commercial vehicles; continue to facilitate charging infrastructure at industrial estates, logistics facilities, depots and designated heavy vehicle parking areas; and leverage digital technologies to improve fleet utilisation.
