Raj Joshua Thomas on Committee of Privileges report

07:29 Min

The motions on the Committee of Privileges report and any court proceedings that may follow can be seen as an "exercise" to protect public interest and the integrity and standing of Parliament, said NMP Raj Joshua Thomas. Speaking in Parliament on Tuesday (Feb 15), he said referring the matter to the Public Prosecutor would afford Leader of the Opposition Pritam Singh and Workers' Party Vice-Chairman Muhamad Faisal Abdul Manap "a second or even third bite of the cherry" because both the Public Prosecutor and the courts would consider all the facts anew. "My view is that the best forum to determine the facts in these matters and to apply it to the law, is the courts," he said.
