Some North-East Line power components replaced earlier to ensure rail reliability
Some power components on the North-East Line are being replaced ahead of time to help keep the trains rolling. It's part of measures by the new rail reliability task force, which was set up last month to tackle the spate of disruptions this year. Rectifier transformers — which have an indicative lifespan of 30 years — are critical for providing electricity. Across the North-East Line, there are a total of 16 such rectifier transformers that have been in service for about 23 years. Claudia Lim reports.
