Tan Kiat How on art installation involving live chickens
An art installation involving live chickens at the National Gallery Singapore was subjected to necessary checks before being issued a licence. These included a pre-event site inspection and input from a veterinarian, as well as regular checks by a local chicken rehoming group during the five-day event. This was to ensure the poultry had proper food, water, housing and rest, and that visitors kept a distance and avoided flash photography. The birds were then returned to the non-profit organisation which had loaned them and all continue to show signs of good health. Senior Minister of State for National Development Tan Kiat How said this in Parliament on Tuesday (Sep 19) in reply to an MP’s questions.
