Tan See Leng on support for graduates in job market
There has not been a decrease in the permanent employment of fresh graduates in the 2025 cohort so far. In fact, there has been some improvement in employment rates from 2024 to 2025. Manpower Minister Tan See Leng shared this observation in parliament on Tuesday (Sep 23), in reply to MPs’ questions. As of June this year, around 9,300 graduates from the 2025 cohort or 52 per cent, were employed. This is higher than that of the 2024 cohort at the same time last year, with 8,600 graduates or 48 per cent employed. The proportion of graduates in permanent employment has also increased - at about 44 per cent in 2025, compared with 37 per cent in 2024. Dr Tan said even though graduate employment rates remain stable, Singapore needs to support the additional influx of graduates looking for work. He urged them to tap on the extensive career guidance and job-matching support that are available.
