Zaqy Mohamad on Safety Assurance for Food Establishment framework
The new Safety Assurance for Food Establishment (SAFE) framework will be implemented in two phases, with the first phase put in place in January this year. Food establishments fall under two categories based on the level of food processing or preparation. Compared with the annual snapshot assessment under the previous grading regime, SAFE considers food establishments year-round. The Singapore Food Agency will continue to conduct regular inspections of all food establishments - those with a larger scale of food processing of preparation or with grade C will be inspected more frequently. Senior Minister of State for Sustainability and the Environment Zaqy Mohamad said this in reply to MPs’ questions in parliament on Wednesday (Feb 4).
