In parliament on Thursday (Feb 26), MP Ng Shi Xuan touched on how Singapore’s decarbonisation plans translate into opportunity, especially for workers and companies in carbon-exposed sectors. Noting that technicians in these sectors have transferable skills to electric vessels servicing, offshore renewables support, battery systems and industrial energy efficiency, he suggested that the National Climate Change Secretariat consider establishing a coordination function to map sector exposure, identify transferable skills and align industries, agencies and employers early so workers need not look for greener pastures elsewhere.
