China displays military might at Victory Day parade marking 80 years since World War II
China's military might was on full display in Beijing today, at a massive Victory Day parade marking 80 years since the end of World War II. All eyes were on President Xi Jinping, as he addressed heads of state and government at the viewing gallery, more than 50,000 spectators on site and millions more watching at home and abroad. Mr Xi declared that China's great rejuvenation is "unstoppable", as he warned that the world faces a choice between peace or war in the face of pressure from the West. He also inspected tens of thousands of troops lined up along Chang'an Avenue, Beijing's main boulevard. Tan Si Hui reports.
