Factions within Japan's Liberal Democratic Party, which have existed since as early as 1956, are under investigation over underreporting of revenues in political fund reports. The largest faction, known as the Abe faction for its links to former prime minister Shinzo Abe, announced on Friday (Jan 19) that the grouping will be dissolved. Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, who led the party's fourth-largest faction until last month, also pledged its dismantling. Michiyo Ishida has more.
