Committee of Supply 2022 debate, Day 5: Pritam Singh on HDB priority schemes

03:30 Min

HDB Build-to-Order (BTO) priority application schemes “do not truly give priority”; they only increase the probability of being allocated a flat, said Leader of the Opposition Pritam Singh in Parliament on Tuesday (Mar 8). He urged the Government to review whether allocation through these schemes is being done “in the fairest and most optimal way”. Mr Singh suggested that there is scope to increase priority for first-timer married couples with children as well as newly married couples. He also asked if the Government would publish the number of applications under each HDB priority scheme as a percentage for every BTO exercise after the selection process is completed.
