Fadli Fawzi on Health Information Bill
Will the police and other law enforcement agencies be allowed to access and use patients’ information kept in the National Electronic Health Record? Does the government intend to make the data available to the private, academic or other sectors and if so, how will this be regulated? These were some of the questions raised by MP Fadli Fawzi in parliament on Monday (Jan 12). He said if health data is used for commercial research, the government should consider a “social dividend” to ensure that benefits return to the people. He also asked for details on how access restrictions will be implemented.
