Gan Siow Huang on support given to Singapore international schools overseas
The Ministry of Education (MOE) provides funding and teaching support to the Singapore International School in Hong Kong. Singaporean students there get a subsidy in absolute dollars to offset part of their school fees. The school was set up in the 1990s, when many Singaporeans were working in Hong Kong and wanted a “Singapore-style” education for their children. MOE extended support to ease the integration of these students upon their return to Singapore. Minister of State for Education Gan Siow Huang said this in Parliament on Wednesday (Nov 9) in answer to an MP’s questions.
