As traditional columbariums overflow, pioneers use generative AI, virtual reality, and holograms to build interactive digital avatars of the deceased. Some services offer the bereaved a final chance to converse with lost loved ones, posing ethical questions about letting go.

Episode Two highlights physical and social innovations. From staging living funerals in mock coffins to custom-built ash-scattering drones and shared graves for strangers, the elderly are stripping away outdated rituals. They are reclaiming their final act, ensuring they depart entirely on their own terms.
