The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) is aware of a foreign news report stating that two Singaporeans were among those who fought for the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) during the conflict in Gaza. MHA does not have substantiated information confirming that any Singaporean has served or is serving in the IDF. Coordinating Minister for National Security and Home Affairs Minister K Shanmugam said this in parliament on Thursday (Mar 5) in response to MPs’ questions. He reiterated that Singaporeans should not participate in any foreign armed conflict not involving Singapore, and those found to be fighting or even planning to fight in foreign armed conflicts will be dealt with in accordance with Singapore’s laws. He also said that the government has sought clarification with the Israeli government over the allegations, but has not received a response.
