Xie Yao Quan on National Council of Social Service (Amendment) Bill
The debate on the National Council of Social Service (Amendment) Bill will focus on a few key themes, said MP Xie Yao Quan. The first theme is on the new council appointment regime, which Mr Xie said is the most significant change for the sector. The new appointment framework must produce councils that will continue to serve the sector well and reflect its diversity, he told parliament on Tuesday (Jan 13). The other key themes are compliance burden, especially for smaller member organisations, overall outcomes and measures of success, as well as the sector's workforce development, wages and welfare.
