Yeo Wan Ling on growing Singapore’s hawker culture
Singapore’s current dynamic hawker landscape is a result of the hard work and dedication of hawkers, as well as the many policy reviews and innovation by the Government working with the community over the years, said MP Yeo Wan Ling. Speaking in Parliament on Wednesday (Nov 13), she agreed on the need to continue to review the policies relating to hawkers and hawker centres. At the same time, recognise that much work has been done over the years in terms of policy and support, she said. Everyone - not just the Government - has a part to play in supporting hawkers and sustaining and growing Singapore’s hawker culture, she added. She called on the Government, Singaporeans, labour movement, operators and service providers to continue to explore new and innovative ways to support hawkers.
