Baey Yam Keng on promoting green-labelled products

04:18 Min

The Singapore Green Labelling Scheme, which is administered by the Singapore Environment Council, has certified over 4,300 products from more than 800 companies. Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Sustainability and the Environment Baey Yam Keng, who gave this update in reply to an MP’s questions in Parliament on Friday (Mar 1), said as a major buyer of goods and services, the public sector plays a role in encouraging companies to provide greener products and services. It has introduced green procurement requirements for nine categories of goods and services, some of which involve the use of green labels. It regularly reviews and updates its green procurement policies and will work with industry and non-Government organisations to expand the goods and services under green procurement policies. Mr Baey hopes that this will spur companies to produce, develop and supply more green products and services.
