Chee Hong Tat on HDB flat applications under Family Care Scheme (Proximity)

For the HDB Build-to-Order (BTO) launch in July, about six in 10 first-timer families and two in 10 first-timer singles who applied under the Family Care Scheme (Proximity) received a queue number. As for Sale of Balance Flats (SBF), about seven in 10 first-timer families who applied under FCS (Proximity) got a queue number. Among the first-timer family applicants who received a queue number, about eight in 10 were on their first attempt and one in 10 was on their second attempt. National Development Minister Chee Hong Tat gave the figures in answer to an MP’s questions in parliament on Wednesday (Oct 15). He also explained how priority is given under various schemes to further enhance the chances of various groups of applicants. Mr Chee said HDB is building more flats to meet demand and urged would-be homebuyers to apply for projects with a larger supply, to have a higher rate of success.
