Janil Puthucheary on support for people with ADHD
Academic research has estimated the prevalence of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) among children and adolescents to range between five per cent and eight per cent, and among adults to range between two per cent and seven per cent. Children aged six years and below are eligible to receive subsidised consultation and therapy of up to 70 per cent for ADHD under the Child Development Programme at KKH and NUH if they are referred by the polyclinics or Community Health Assist Scheme general practitioner clinics. Senior Minister of State for Health Janil Puthucheary highlighted this as one of several initiatives to support people diagnosed with ADHD, in reply to an MP’s questions in Parliament on Friday (Feb 16). He said Singaporeans who face difficulties with their bills can approach medical social workers on the avenues for financial assistance.
