In parliament on Wednesday (Jan 14), Speaker Seah Kian Peng turned down Mr Pritam Singh’s request to refer to certain police statements from his case. Mr Singh had said the Public Prosecutor did not agree to such a request. Mr Seah said although Members of Parliament have certain privileges, if he were to allow it, it would “impinge on the mutual respect and forbearance maintained between this House and the judiciary”. Mr Singh responded that he was disappointed with the ruling, but could accept and respect it.
