New skills pathway launched to address growing demand for skilled workers

03:21 Min

Students and workers interested in developing careers in the electric vehicle industry will now have a clear progression route. A new skills pathway is aimed at helping to prepare the workforce for the transition to EVs. It will guide existing automotive technicians to enhance their capabilities, while encouraging new ones to be trained. The pathway will have a structured four-tier progression from Technical Specialists to Engineers. To qualify for the first tier, workers must minimally hold the National EV Safety Specialist Certification - or NESS, that's been conducted by seven training providers.
