Tan See Leng on Capability Transfer Programme

Since the Capability Transfer Programme (CTP) was introduced in October 2017, more than 140 companies and more than 990 locals across more than 20 sectors have benefitted or are expected to benefit from the programme. The top three sectors in terms of number of local trainees are precision engineering, air transport and logistics. Manpower Minister Tan See Leng gave these details on Tuesday (Apr 5) in response to Parliamentary questions. He also talked about how the authorities ensure that CTP projects result in genuine upskilling. Dr Tan said an MP’s suggestion that companies be required to reduce their foreign workforce after CTP was “too blunt an approach”.
