Desmond Choo on mental health support for NSFs
The Singapore Armed Forces has an established mental health support system for its national servicemen, said Minister of State for Defence Desmond Choo. Replying to an MP’s question in parliament on Tuesday (Nov 4), he said while the figures for mental health-related issues vary year to year, there has been a general upward trend over time, similar to the national youth mental health trend. In 2024, nine per cent of pre-enlistees for National Service had mental health issues, while 11 per cent of full-time national servicemen sought help for some form of mental health-related issues.
