Committee of Supply 2023 debate, Day 1: Dennis Tan on improving corporate governance standards

In Parliament on Friday (Feb 24), MP Dennis Tan expressed concern about “the potential rise of a view ... that corporate governance standards in Singapore, including Government-linked entities, may not be what they used to be”. Citing the bribery case involving staff of Keppel Offshore & Marine, he asked what lessons were learned and what steps will be taken to prevent similar cases. He also brought up Temasek’s investment in bankrupt crypto exchange FTX. Mr Tan called on the Government to improve the corporate governance of companies and ensure that Government-linked companies do adequate due diligence before committing to the investment of public monies.
