Rahayu Mahzam on Online Safety (Relief and Accountability) Bill
Intimate image abuse, image-based child abuse, online harassment including sexual harassment, doxxing and online stalking - these are the most prevalent and serious harms faced by Singapore users online and which Singaporeans are most concerned about. Minister of State for Digital Development and Information Rahayu Mahzam, who outlined the key provisions under the Online Safety (Relief and Accountability) Bill in parliament on Wednesday (Nov 5), said the establishment of the statutory reporting mechanism and Online Safety Commission (OSC) is a “monumental task” that will require close collaboration across the government. This is why these five harms will be brought in within the first six months after the OSC opens its doors. The rest of the harms will follow progressively, said Ms Rahayu.
