Yvonne currently co-hosts Channel NewsAsia’s weekday breakfast programme, First Look Asia, a two hour show covering the latest in world, business and lifestyle topics.
Yvonne started her journalism career as a business news reporter with Channel NewsAsia in 2011. She has interviewed CEOs of Fortune 500 companies, renowned investor, Jim Rogers, and Virgin Atlantic CEO, Richard Branson. She was also at the front line reporting on several high profile M&As, most notably the takeover tussle of Fraser & Neave by Thaibev and Heineken.
Yvonne then made the switch to general news by anchoring bulletin News Now for a year, where she covered several ‘live’ news events, including a three hour breaking news coverage on the crash of AirAsia Flight 8501 in 2014 and the Taiwan presidential elections in 2016.
Prior to joining Channel NewsAsia, Yvonne was a management trainee with HSBC Singapore’s commercial banking department. She then moved to HSBC London, where she helmed various projects on inclusion and diversity, change management and corporate social responsibility.
Given her strong background in financial news, Yvonne also anchors our weekly financial education programme Money Mind from time to time.
In her leisure time, Yvonne enjoys spending time with her family, including her two toddlers. She is also a professional Jazz singer and enjoys working out, traveling and hosting events.
Yvonne graduated from the National University of Singapore with a degree in Economics (Hons).
She speaks fluent Mandarin and is brushing up on her basic Spanish.
