Syahida Othman



Syahida anchors News Now, CNA's hourly bulletin that delivers the latest in world events, business and sports news.

Her television career started on the Singapore desk, where she produced the CNA’s flagship programme Singapore Tonight. She also reported for both the TV and digital platforms.

Some of the notable events she covered include the passing of Singapore’s founding Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew, Singapore’s General Election in 2015 and the Singapore Biennale.

Before joining the channel in 2014, Syahida served as an aid worker in the areas of disaster relief and sustainable development across Asia, and designed for an expat magazine in Singapore.

When she’s not in the newsroom, Syahidah will likely be travelling and exploring the unbeaten path. She also enjoys yoga and reading.

She obtained her degree in Mass Communication from Murdoch University, Australia. She is fluent in English and Bahasa Melayu.
